Baby Steps

The last 30 days have yielded MarJan’s MarketPlace over $5,000 in gross sales. Things are proceeding as expected and I’m thrilled with the growth I’ve achieved in the most important area of my business, customer service.

If eBay traffic is the lifeblood of MarJan’s MarketPlace, excellent customer service is its soul.

As I said back on April 6th in A Conversation With An Ebay Customer,

Head Games

Golfers agree that “90% of playing well is mental and the other 10% is in your head”.

This same attitude applies to my ebay adventure.

Nothing escapes my attention in the creation of “mental helps” in these beginning phases of my new entrepreneurial journey.

After 33 years of receiving a regular paycheck from “on high” on a weekly basis, the “phantom limb” effect of not receiving that secure weekly pacifier felt very real to me immediately.

The Color of Money

Lightbox BlueWhile the wife’s hard at work at her day job yours truly raids the linen closet for different colored backgrounds for my homemade light box.

I don’t know what the heck I’m doing but there’s a lot to be said for trial and error.

About a month ago a took a photo of my homemade light box and the digital camera I use down to a local Photography Shop and asked them why my pictures were turning out yellow with all the light I now had. They told me the light box looked fine and that it was probably the “white balance” on my camera.

Eye of Sauron

Eye of Sauron

One of the wonderful things in life is there are only 24 hours in a day.

The destructive “Eye of Sauron” caught me in his evil gaze yesterday and escape was impossible. He threw everything he had at me from the smallest nusance to huge catastrophies costing in the thousands.

As I’ve stated throughout my ebay adventure it’s not about the destination for me it’s about being shaped by the journey. Learning how to handle “Sauron’s gaze”, when it’s “my time in the tank”, strengthens my resolve for rougher days that surely lie ahead.

Positive Word About eBay

The more time I spend on ebay the more possibilities I see and the more optimistic I am about my success.

As far ebay’s fees go, if you’re whining about um….get over it.

I’m paying over $100.00 per month now and every penny is worth it. I hope I’m paying $1,000 per month this time next year.

Ebay is a bargain by any stretch of the imagination. Contrast ebay and Paypal fees against starting your own online store and it’s less than a no-brainer. Ebay still gives newbies, with the drive to succeed, a fighting chance.
