Wonderings

Searching For Bobby Fischer

I’m no collector but if I was I would be on eBay searching for Bobby Fischer. It’s a sad commentary but death does wonders for the value of collectibles.

I was no fan of Bobby Fischer’s politics or his wacky view of the world, but a part of me died when I heard the news he passed away this past Thursday. It seems like yesterday I was glued to news reports coming out of Reykjavík, Iceland telling about his world chess championship match with Boris Spassky back in July of 1972.

What is Normal Blogging?

Very interesting read on what is “Normal Blogging”. These cancer bloggers are adding real value to other cancel patients living with this curse. Bully for them!! This is real courage!!

And a reminder for each of us to help those who need it most and to live each day to its fullest.

Our Illusive Companion

Curiosity and exploration are character traits that don’t need coaxing from me. This dynamic duo of a skill set is constantly bubbling to the surface of who I am and plays a major role in the derailment of my immediate financial targeting.

At the very heart of the man or woman pre-disposed to exploration is the repelling of things as they are and the natural gravitation toward innovation and the unknown.

Imprinted on the Owner’s Heart

Woke up, got out a bed, and dragged a comb across my head. Found my way downstairs and had a smoke, and somebody spoke and I went into a dream. Ahhhhhhh…ahhh….ahhh

Pretty close to the truth this morning, except for the smoking part. Actually I grabbed my Bible at 6:00AM and went to a new Men’s Bible Study some guys from my church have every Tuesday morning at our local neighborhood supermarket located here in South Bend. I’m wondering if these bunch of great guys are ready for someone as “out there” as me. We’ll see.

Truth We Dare To Call Our Own

Saturday mornings between 10:00 and 11:00AM find the “Wifey Poo” and I kicking back in our Family Room with some great French Pressed coffee watching the “Business Block” on the Fox News Network.

I enjoy watching Brenda Butner, Gary B., Pat Dorsey and the rest of “the panel” duke it out over the latest and greatest stock picks. On a stock picking scale of 1 - 100 their expertise on how to pick the best stocks would be 100 and mine would be 1.

When I Look At The World

What would the world look like if all the focused energy of the thousands of millions of hours spent in the panicked pursuit of what we know will someday pass away, was invested with the same amount of dedicated urgency, unto the service of Him, whose still small voice, patiently calls to us from the other side of eternity.

It’s so much easier to work for what we see than for what we don’t.

Another Good As It Gets Moment

Jimminies…….How cool is this?????

As my Led Zeppelin CD screams out “Communication Breakdown” through the computer speakers poised a foot from my ears….volume turned up so high it tests every woofer and tweeter inside, I can’t help but pause from my eBay shipping routine I’m enjoying to let my audience know I’m having another “as good as it gets” moment.

Just creating the right work environment in which to serve others in… :-)

Yesterday a friend of mine called about 11:30 AM and asked if I wanted to go golfing. I hesitated, looked around for the boss, then remembered….oh yea….that’s me ! and told him……aaaahhhhhh……….YEP !!!! what time?
