Some Curves I Like Some I Don’t

Learning “Curves” can be a lot of fun, if you know what I mean. The more the merrier. Bring em on. I’ll gladly burn all my midnight oil along with both my retinas to study them.

But “Learning Curves” are for saps like me. I constantly stand guard against these insidious time traps. They lurk everywhere demanding complete attention while sucking me into their never ending vortex of details.

“Learning Curves” are oh so cunning, preying on my greatest weakness; pride. I must know more and I must know it NOW!

Once a “Learning Curve” sinks it’s teeth in me it doesn’t let go until it has sucked the last morsel of practical work out of me. Gone forever is the precious time I allocated for the essential tasks of eBay business growth. It can be hours before I see the big picture again. Lost I am, taken by the dark side of meaningless minutiae only to be satisfied with worthless triumphs.

What pray tell is he talking about, you are thinking? Ah, I see you too are loath to admit the “Learning Curve’s” existence?

Identify them I will for you. “Learning Curves” are ego boosters. They pose as educational necessities to our ebay business goals but are really impostors, frauds of the worst kind. Wrapping our arms around a “Learning Curve” makes us feel good for awhile and may give us a brief high, but just like a one night stand we are left in the morning with but a memory and nothing meaningful accomplished.

Many times I have learned something good only to realize later the good I learned took me away from the best I was going to accomplish.

Identify what your “Learning Curves” are and do it quickly. I usually gravitate toward the “Learning Curves” I like or am good at. Boredom, fear, procrastination and plain old laziness heightens their temptation and power over me.

Plans and To Do lists are “Learning Curves” Kryptonite. When I take the time to envision in my mind and write down on paper those tasks that will push my eBay business forward most effectively, “Learning Curves” lose their power over me.

Beware the “Learning Curve” it prowls like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. Don’t let it be you.
