The eBay Buck From Hell…..Part 2
In the last exciting episode of “The eBay buck from hell”…..Snidely Whiplash had just…..oh forget about it and go read it yourself.
In today’s episode……Nell Fenwick, the beautiful director of MarJan’s Marketing Department didn’t wait for me to ask a question, she chimed in right away with, “it might be smart Mr. Meany, I…I…I…mean Mr. McClean, to contact this disgruntled eBay buyer and try to get on his good side. This buyer will probably purchase the eBay item anyway and then let us have it right between the eyeballs with a fat juicy eBay negative feedback.”
In his typically nasal voice MarJan’s Director of Sales, Dudley Do-Right, leaped off the back of his trusty companion “Horse”, knee high Mountie boots slamming hard a top the middle of our meeting room’s $24,000 table.
With stately chin pointed high, Dudley bellowed, “Hmmmm…..good point Nell, let’s not give that Murphy fellow a chance to use that dastardly law of his. I’ll travel high and low across America a top my loyal horse “Horse” until “I” Dudley Do-Right, find this unhappy eBay customer and “I” Dudley Do-Right, will make things right with this nice fellow as only “I” Dudley Do-Right can do. ”
“A simple email will do Dudley”, said Nell while combing the curls in her flamingly bright red hair.
Eyes rolling toward the back of his head, Inspector Fenwick, Nell’s father had had enough and demanded Do-Right get off the table then added, “Listen guys and gals, eBay has a seller’s tool for handling customers who we know aren’t happy with us for whatever the reason. We’ve got bigger fish to fry right now than worrying about one disgruntled customer’s email over a buck increase on one of our eBay auctions. It’s called the “eBay block bidder” tool and it’s a piece of cake to use so come on let’s use it with this eBay bidder and move on to more important business, shall we?”
As usually Inspector Fenwick’s big-picture answer to this tiny customer service issue shut the yaps of Dudley and Nell and carried the day at our meeting.
I didn’t want anyone bidding on one of my eBay auctions who had taken the time to verbalize in writing their discontent with one my business decisions “before” they even purchased from me. I took Inspector Fenwick’s recommendation and blocked this eBay bidder from being able to bid on all my future auctions.
Here’s where I have to admit, “Oooh it felt soooooo good.”
Little did I know, this bidder was not going to take “no” for an answer easily. In the next episode, Nell and Dudley get to say, I told you so.
