There Is No Failure
As I move forward in my ebay adventure new strategies come into view.
From the beginning I’ve viewed my eBay adventure as a long shot. The “Wifey Poo” is an eternal optimist and I envy her natural refusal to look to the dark side. She has enough confidence in me for the both of us. She’s already deciding on a timetable for putting money back into her 401K again.
I on the other hand was born a pessimist.
I’ve talked with enough “New Agers” to “get” the “wasted energy” argument when it comes to negative thinking, however eternal optimists irritate me to no end.
As John Lennon wrote in his fantastic song Strawberry Fields Forever,
“Living is easy with eyes closed”.
Storms will come, to doubt that is to live in a world of denial.
I’ve trained myself through the years to think positively. I’ve read and re-read most everything written by the most famous authors concerning positive thinking and believe there is much truth in their words.
Nevertheless, setting out to climb Mount Everest and being unprepared for the inevitable storm is to tempt the edge of fate. There must be fall-back positions for explorers. This is not negative thinking, its positive thinking and reality, circa planet earth 2006.
Thrust forward with every fiber of your being and stake claim to the ground you’ve taken. Expect nothing, earn everything and be eternally vigilant for the unexpected. I will debate no one on this subject as my mind is made up.
Can we attract positive and negative energies to ourselves, you bet! All this New Age mumbo jumbo spirituality has much truth to it.
But I for one will not be afraid of negative energy. Let weakness have its day. Let the dark side wield its pathetic scythe of destruction. The dark side fights a battle already lost and withers with each passing day.
To be afraid of negative energy is to be afraid of yourself.
Those who struggle with negative energy fear taking control of their lives.
All this is to say everything I do in my eBay adventure has a point. I take no decision without forethought as to where I’m going.
I know where I’m going. But unlike many “positive thinkers” it’s not the destination that gives me power. Destinations are inevitable and success is subjective.
The journey’s where it’s at. The journey is what shapes me. Its “natural current” is in the present not the future. To live for “the destination” is to live an artificial life as a slave to the future not the present.
To live for “the destination” is to be continually afraid of failure.
It’s always about the journey for me. The journey “is” the destination. The more I allow myself to relax into the “journey’s current” the more failure and success blend into one and the greater my vision to see the opportunities all around me.
There is no failure.
